This week and next
week my pen rests and instead I bring you some photographs from the past. The victorious Christian Brothers Under 14
school team of 1950 contrasts socially and age wise with the Athy rugby team of
12 years previously. The rugby team,
captained by Dr. Joe O’Neill, lost the 1948 Provincial Towns Cup Final to
Dundalk. The only surviving members of
that team are Dr. O’Neill, Frank Anderson, Kevin Maher and Tony Osborne.
